Ferrari 499P Hypercar completes test at Sebring

The new Ferrari 499P Hypercar has been put through its paces during a two-day test at Sebring International Raceway this week.

The WEC machinery has been tested extensively at the likes of Portimao, Fiorano, Aragon and Vallelunga but Sebring marked its first official test away from European soil.

The team focused on improving the reliability of the all-new Hypercar as well as allowing its drivers the opportunity to get to grips with the vehicle on the 6km Sebring circuit which is renowned for its uneven surface and bumps. It was, therefore, the ideal testing ground for Ferrari to gather useful information on its suspension and chassis responses.

Alessandro Pier Guidi, who will drive the No. 51 Ferrari 499P Hypercar, was over in Sebring this week with the team. Following the test, the Italian commented: “The feedback from these two days is positive, we have gained experience that will be important at the 1000 Miles and, above all, we have been able to get precise timing references compared to our rivals. We still have a lot of work to do to improve further, but we know in which direction to do it.”

The 2023 FIA WEC season will get underway with the 1000 Miles of Sebring on 17 March.
